This Summer I had the chance to spend one month in Tuscany, enjoying the mighty silence in the coutryside, the overcrowded cities and the refreshing seaside. It was a great inspiration holiday and also a time for charging my batteries with new, good, positive energies.
In Florence I came across many stationer’s shops with a workroom where they realized different objects from handmade paper on spot. They make handmade paper in a large variety of styles, with different handmade prints and patterns.
Although I usually work only with recycled paper, as a ruling ethic , this time I couldn’t resist the tentation to have a try on this special, very appealing papers. I only bought one shit of beautiful dark olive green with golden and silver winding pattern.
I tried to highlight as much as possible the qualities of the paper, avoiding any extra ornament that could have been distracting.
So, here is a series of earrings that came to life under the Tuscan sky, in a very calm and pleasant atmosphere, from exceptional materials.
I enjoyed very much every step of the process, from the acquisition of the paper until the last touch of the final piece. I hope you’ll like it and enjoy it at least as much as I did.
Counterpoint is the name of my latest collection of earrings.
As composers were combining very different musical lines in order to achieve a higher expression of the music they envisioned, so I tried to combine, in this collection, old musical sheets with wood, glass, bone beads, gemstones and chains to make them sound like music and to make you feel special. 🙂
As you got used by now, all the pieces are carefully designed and realized, the musical sheets are protected by a layer of varnish, so they are resistant to water, but I wouldn’t suggest taking them in the shower, even though I know music sounds wonderful in there 😀
So, enjoy it!
Today, since it’s a lovely shiny Saturday, I’d like to present to you a collection of feather earrings that I made a while ago and which are very dear to me. American Indian culture is very inspiring to me for its symbols and their aproach to everyday life.
“Feathers mean a lot to Native American Tribes. A feather isn’t just something that falls out of a bird, it means much more. The feather symbolizes trust, honor, strength, wisdom, power, freedom and many more things. To be given one of these is to be hand picked out of the rest of the men in the tribe – it’s like getting a gift from a high official.
If any Indian is given Golden or Bald Eagle feathers it is one of the most rewarding items they can ever be handed. The Indians believe that eagles have a special connection with the heavens since they fly so close. Many Indians believe that if they are given this feather, it is a symbol from above. They believe that the eagle is the leader of all birds, because it flies as high as it does and sees better than all the birds.” (read more here)
May these earrings lift your spirit and bring you the soft breeze of freedom and communion with nature.
I have a new collection of earrings called “The Music in You”. They are made of old scores and I dedicate them to all those talented women who, unlike me, have musical skills. I really envy you, in a good way, and I hope you’ll find my earrings like a tribute to your work. I have more variations on the same theme but, as I promissed myself and to you, all of my jewelry is one-of-a-kind. You can trust that!
So, let the music play!
And, before ending this post, I dare to invite you to listen to this part of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concert No.2. It makes my hair stand on end every time I listen to it. Hope it will do the same to you! 😀
In addition to this post, I would like to show you my latest bracelet on the same theme, Solfeggio Bracelet.
It is a little bit more sophisticated, more delicate and feminin. It is assorted with a combination of gemstones like green amethyst and purple jad, little purple glass beads and some semitransparent ones.
The width of it is 3,5 cm and the length is adjustable.
Lately I’ve been experiencing with this little wheel-like beads, trying to exploit every possibility they offer.
So, this is how I came to these funny earrings, in the style of the Turquoise Spiral that I posted some other day. These are more coloreful, funny, easy to wear, easy to match with your clothes due to their multicolored style.
